The ancient city of Hyderabad, once the Nizam's capital is now the capital of Telangana. It is the fifth largest city in India, sprawled and flourished on the bank of river Musi. It is actually a twin city. Hyderabad and Secunderabad cities have now fused into one. The new entity is a giant metropolis where North meets south and consent meets Cosmopolitanism. The city is about 400 years young and is still growing fast. With the development of Hitec City at Madhapur, it has become the IT capital of India.
The development of IT and IT-related activities has given a big boost to all-round development of the city. It has now become a city where tradition fuses with modernity and heritage structures vie with modern high rise buildings to add to the beauty of the city. The city that thrives with a variety of cultures, has tried to create a distinct identity of its own. The twin cities have many landmarks, which have become places of attraction of tourists. These include Charminar, Golconda Fort, Qutub Shahi Tombs, Salarjung Museum, Lumbimi and NTR Parks, Nehru Zoological Park, Birla Mandir and Planetarium, Ramoji Film City, Snow Park to mention a few.
